Growth Mindset, Power Through

It is the end of the semester for us. Everyone is different in most cases but a lot of us are waiting until the last minute to finish. Even if the goal seems like it not reachable and there is a lot of work to do you have to power through. Getting there is not easy for us that have put it off. Putting your head down and powering through to the end is the best way to accomplish the end. This applies to more than just the end of the semester. It could apply to work, to certain situations, sports and so on. Always make sure you put your head down and power through whatever obstacle is in your way for you to achieve what you had set out to do, break that wall down.

Growth Mindset, Always Learning

going through my day to day activities a phrase is always going off in my head, "if you're not learning, you're dying." I learned this from a classmate in a photoshop class. He was 75 and working towards another degree. It has always stuck with me and I take it to heart while doing my best to learn something new daily. It could be a new technique in graphic design, a different lighting set up for photography or learning about the mythology of Russia. You can never know everything but knowledge is power and it makes you open your eyes to the world more.

Growth Mindset: Talking to a Teenager

Recently I sat down with my teenage son to explain certain problem solving techniques. Sometimes he is referred to as "blond" when it comes to a lot of common sense issues but I know he just has not been taught the ways to deal with life events. We talked about how he would see something as complicated and I would show him how to come up with a way to find a solution in a few steps. Things in life are only as hard as you make them and if you open your eyes up to more ways to accomplish goals than what you are accustomed to than things have become that much easier. So don't always try to rush through things the same way, take a step back and think of other ways to solve something and it might be easier in the long run.

Growth Mindset

Growth Mindset

I haven’t heard of Carol Dwek or the Growth Mindset until now. This made me think about myself and how I view learning. I love to learn new things every day and new ways to do something I would normally do another way. I have a disease called Crohn’s disease and it puts me in the hospital a lot so at times I will fall behind in classes. Figuring out the best way to catch up sometimes I have to change the way I do things so I am always adapting.
