Time Strategies

Time Strategies

Going into this semester I believe I have some pretty decent time management strategies for myself. To keep myself on track I have a whiteboard that I write my schedule and important dates on that is right behind me so when I turn around it is right in my face. When each thing is taken care of I give myself an hour of free time or some other reward. When I was told to make a schedule for this class it kind of threw me for a loop and I did not look carefully at it. As of now my schedule will be changing.

Growth Mindset

Growth Mindset

I haven’t heard of Carol Dwek or the Growth Mindset until now. This made me think about myself and how I view learning. I love to learn new things every day and new ways to do something I would normally do another way. I have a disease called Crohn’s disease and it puts me in the hospital a lot so at times I will fall behind in classes. Figuring out the best way to catch up sometimes I have to change the way I do things so I am always adapting.

Fall 2017: Introduction to a unique individual

Fall 2017: Introduction to a unique individual

Hello readers of the internet! My name is Matthew K. I am an advertising student at the University of Oklahoma, a graphic designer, a photographer and a cat lover. Recently I graduated from Oklahoma City Community College with an Associates in Diversified Studies, basically it is where you pick your own classes and create a major, weird but cool. I am what is considered a non-traditional student, meaning I am older than most college students and did not go to college straight from high school. I actually dropped out of high school and got my GED so to be even a community college graduate is something of an accomplishment.

Before deciding to go back to college I had traveled all over the United States, France, the UK, Italy, Spain, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. I was a promoter and designer for a Latin music label so the travel was one of the best perks. Leaving that job was hard but it just wasn’t for me anymore so I decided to move back to Oklahoma to help my family and went back to being a chef. I loved it at first but after a few years it turned into just a “job” and not a career as I had lost my passion for cooking.

Talking with some people I play online video games with, yes I am a gamer, nerd or whatever you want to call it, I decided to go back to school for something I loved which was graphic design and photography. It was a no brainer and as I got a job at OCCC as a student designer it made my passion stronger and the desire to further my studies into the world of marketing and advertising.

Recently I adopted a cat, he is a 4-year-old Original Tabby I named Kika (Hawaiian for Tiger). He is the most loving cat I have ever had and brightens my day whenever I am down or when I get home.

The story “Death's Story” introduction grabs your attention almost immediately as it gives you the feeling the story will be told from the perspective of Death theirself. The three examples shows that the reaper telling the story is not just out for souls and actually puts thought into the job that it has been tasked with. Just like most people or beings it does have a boss that it reports to and because of a failed task it is being fired. Death recounts from when it first starts as a reaper to the reason of the reaper being fired and you feel sorry for the reaper after knowing that Sinbad is the reason the reaper is being let go by Mother Nature, its boss.  Full Story Source

The next story I have chosen is “Murders in the Bible”. From the beginning of the introduction you would think it is just someone pointing out of all the murders and sins that take place in the Bible. Upon further reading, this story is about someone who views the Bible differently and uses what he views as what the Bible is telling him to do with the verse “Exodus 21:12, an eye for an eye” and it is his life goal to fulfil that one verse of the Bible. The layout gives you an eerie feeling and the photo of the bloody hand adds that it is a story about a killer. The only thing I would really criticize is the choice of font, it is hard to read for an extended period. Full Story Source.

The third and final story is “Ghostly Adventures”. Seeing as this is a story about Oklahoma it would draw most readers attention wanting to know more about their own state and what it could offer as far as out of the ordinary stories. It is told from first and third-person perspective and takes us to 3 different locations. The first location has become famous as NBA players have said they have experienced the ghost first hand, while the other two are not well known. I like how the author did research on Weatherford to know what attractions were available for a group to enjoy while killing time to go to the haunt. Full Story Source
